I purchased a beautiful black Ruffled turtle neck Jumper from La Redoute last week and as I received it I started to think how I would pair it with other clothes of mine. Although I like black in winter, you will probably never see me dressed all in black. Personally, I find it a bit too harsh and a bit too moody. Instead, I like to style it with colourful accessories.
I am massively fond of pendant earrings and in particular of tassel earrings. I bought this pair from H&M and I love them. They are some kind of statement earrings that will make a simple outfit stand out from the crowds. I saw them at my local store in black, red, burgundy, silver, rose gold and gold but sadly not all the colours seem available for online purchase.
New look sells a pretty good alternative too with this Flower Tassel Drop Earrings for £6.74.
And why not bring another touch of brightness with a colourful handbag. I have had this Longchamp Pliage bag for donkey’s years and they are of an incredible quality not to mention light and practical.
But I guess any kind of colourful accessories (belt, shoes, hairpiece, scarf, jewels…) will break the chic (but sometimes a bit austere) all black look.
I am most delighted by the quality of my turtle neck jumper from La Redoute and love the ruffle details, you know how much I am fond of ruffles, right? 😉 It also comes in a beautiful red shade!
La Redoute was an institution at home in my childhood. My sisters and I loved flicking through the massive directory of clothes at every release and browse for hours. My mum was, for many years, a really good customer of them. They often have offers so it’s worth regularly checking their website or subscribe to their newletter. Talking about offer, they currently have 40% off everything for the Black Friday week so now is the time to check their collection and place an order (http://www.laredoute.co.uk)
I am wearing those Black smart trousers (ankle length) with an elasticated waist (but you can also wear a belt if you want to) which I have shown you in this previous post are from Uniqlo and wonderfully confortable!
In this second look, I wanted to show another nice combination of colours to mix with black: silver or gold. I find this combo particularly suitable for going out to a dinner or a smarter venue. Throw in a gold scarf and smart gold earrings and you look super polished ready for an evening out without breaking the bank clothes budget wise 😃.
Let’s give the ‘all black’ look a bit of a twist!
Thank you so much for my friend and fashion blogger (for the women over 50) Josephine from Chic at Any Age. Make sure to check out her blog: www.chicatanyage.com and take some great inspiration from this classy lady.
